The benefits of the Enkolan Coating at a glance

The Enkolan coating impresses with its technical properties – and with a particularly user-friendly system design:

  • Soivent free & odourless – ideal for sensitive environments such as living areas, care homes and nurseries
  • Single-component & ready-to-use – no mixing required, no pot life
  • Can be applied cold – safe and straightforward using a lambswool roller or notched trowel
  • Permanently elastic down to –30 °C – no embrittlement in cold conditions, high flexibility
  • Vapour-permeable – allows moisture to escape, protects the building structure
  • Weather- and UV-resistant – also ideally suited to surfaces exposed to the elements
  • High adhesion to Enkolan waterproofing – no additional Primer required
  • Rapidly rainfast – skin forms after approx. 1 hour at 20°C and 60% relative humidity

The result: a safe, durable Coating – for both indoor and outdoor use, and even for sensitive projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Enkolan coating is not a waterproofing layer, but rather the walkable wearing course applied over the Enkolan waterproofing layer.
It protects the waterproofing layer from mechanical stress, ensures an even, durable surface and also allows for aesthetic customisation (e.g. with chips or quartz).

Practical guide:
Waterproofing = Enkolan waterproofing; Wearing course = Enkolan Coating

The coating must be applied no later than 24 hours after the Enkolan waterproofing has cured.
If the waterproofing is more than 24 hours old, the surface must be sanded to ensure a secure bond.

This time window is crucial for ensuring the adhesive bonds correctly with the system without any adhesion problems.

Enkolan coating is a single component, soivent free product that is applied cold:

  • Apply with a smooth trowel, notched trowel or lambswool roller
  • Coverage on horizontal surfaces: approx. 2.0–3.0 kg/m²
  • Followed by pressure-free de-airing with a spiked roller

The coating cures depending on the humidity in the air and is quickly rain-resistant.

The Enkolan coating is intended exclusively for use on Enkolan waterproofing.
It must not be applied directly to concrete, screed, timber or tiles.

Important for the tradesperson:

  • The substrate must be dry, clean, sound and free from release agents
  • If there is residual moisture in the substrate, the vapour-permeable system structure offers a clear advantage
  • For unknown substrates, carry out an adhesion test in advance or consult the manufacturer

The Enkolan coating can be applied for functional or decorative purposes:

  • partial incorporation of Enke plastic chips (approx. 10–80 g/m²)
  • full-surface incorporation of Enketop chips or Enke QuarzColor (with an additional adhesive coat)
  • Subsequent sealing with Enkolan Sealing is essential

Without sealing, the surface is not permanently protected and does not comply with the system specifications.
