Reflektol
A silver-coloured surface protection with temperature-regulating properties

Product information

Reflektol protects the surface from the elements whilst reflecting a large proportion of the sun’s rays – reducing heat build-up and extending the service life of the building structure. The bright silver protective coating is ready for application straight away, requires no Primer and can be easily applied by roller or spray. Ideal for bitumen membranes, fibre-cement and metal roofs, as well as PUR in-situ foam.

Reliable in use:
The benefits of Reflektol at a glance

  • Temperature-regulating – significantly reduces the surface temperature
  • Reflects sunlight – thanks to its light, silver-metallic colour
  • Weather-resistant & protective – against rain, UV, frost and dirt
  • Ready to use & easy to apply – with a roller or airless sprayer
  • No Primer required – saves time and material
  • Suitable for many substrates – bitumen, fibre cement, sheet metal and PUR foam
  • Economical to use – depending on the substrate, only 0.6–1.2 kg/m²

Frequently Asked Questions

Reflektol is a surface protection coating, not a waterproofing product.
It is used on roof surfaces that are still watertight to protect them from UV radiation, ageing and excessive heat.

Reflektol is not suitable:

  • as a waterproofing measure against moisture
  • to bridge cracks
  • on damaged or leaking roof structures

In the event of leaks, proper waterproofing (e.g. with Enkopur, Enkryl or Enkolan) must be carried out beforehand.

Reflektol adheres to many types of on-site substrates, including:

  • Bitumen membranes (new or aged)
  • Metal and trapezoidal sheet metal roofs
  • Fibre-cement sheets
  • PU in-situ foam

A load-bearing, clean and dry substrate is always required.
Surfaces without a fall are problematic, as standing water can lead to deposits and uneven weathering.

Reflektol’s high aluminium content ensures that solar radiation is strongly reflected.
As a result, the roof surface heats up significantly less, which:

  • reduces thermal stresses
  • slows down the ageing of the roof waterproofing
  • improves the indoor climate beneath the roof

Reflektol is therefore an effective means of reducing temperature-related stress on the roof, particularly on dark bituminous surfaces.

Reflektol is applied cold using a lambswool roller or an airless sprayer.
Key practical points:

  • Clean the substrate thoroughly (remove dust, algae and loose particles)
  • Apply a suitable Primer (e.g. Enke Universal Primer 933)
  • Coverage: approx. 0.6–1.2 kg/m², depending on the substrate
  • Apply at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C

The drying time is several days, depending on weather conditions.

Reflektol provides long-term surface protection, but is a system that can be maintained and recoated.
Depending on weathering and the roof pitch, recoating may be advisable after several years.

Important to note:

  • Re-coating is straightforward
  • The prerequisite is a clean, sound existing coating
  • Reflektol extends the service life of the roof surface, but does not replace renovation in the event of damage
