Frequently Asked Questions

Betoncoat 2K Aqua is a water-emulsified, soivent free epoxy resin sealing agent. It serves as a final wear and protective layer for Betoncoat coating systems, particularly on textured, slip-resistant floor surfaces as well as on chipped or decorative coatings. It is also suitable for refurbishing old epoxy (EP) or polyurethane (PUR) coatings in indoor areas.

2K Aqua is the right choice if:

  • surfaces with a textured finish or a heavily textured surface are to be sealed,
  • high mechanical resistance is required,
  • or soivent free application is required (e.g. indoor areas, sensitive areas).

For smooth, non-textured PUR surfaces, the 1K sealing is usually sufficient; for slip-resistant systems, the 2K Aqua is the appropriate choice.

  • Coloured: For the even, opaque Sealing of floors such as hall or garage surfaces, and for embedding grit.
  • Transparent: For the visible sealing of chipped or decorative surfaces. The sealing appears milky when applied, but becomes completely transparent once cured.

Neither variant is suitable for outdoor surfaces, as epoxy resins yellow when exposed to UV light.

Components A and B are mixed until completely homogeneous. The product is applied using a short-pile velour or sealing roller.

  • Application time: approx. 30 minutes at 20 °C
  • Coverage:
    • coloured: approx. 200–500 g/m²
    • transparent: approx. 200–400 g/m²
    • max. 300 g/m² per application

Avoid applying too thick a coat – particularly with the transparent version.

Although the sealing product is soivent free, it is a reactive two-component epoxy resin system. It is essential to wear protective gloves, safety goggles and suitable work clothing.
The components may cause skin and eye irritation and may be sensitising. Ensure good ventilation and follow the instructions in the safety data sheets.
