Advantages of the Betoncoat EP coating:
When form and function come together
The Betoncoat EP coating impresses not only with its durability, but also with its design flexibility. Thanks to its epoxy resin Basis, the coating is ideal for a wide range of indoor applications – from storage areas to showrooms. When combined with coloured plastic chips, the floor becomes a functional design feature.
Product benefits at a glance:
- Two-component & colour-stable – for durable and uniform surfaces Chemical-resistant – withstands cleaning agents, oils and operating fluids
- Can be customised for a decorative finish – can be combined with Enke plastic chips for a personalised look
- Consistent application – can be applied with a trowel, squeegee or spiked roller
- Compatible with the entire Betoncoat system – primers and Sealing perfectly matched
The Betoncoat EP coating is a soivent free, self-levelling two-component epoxy resin coating designed to create hard-wearing, wear-resistant floors for indoor use. Typical applications include warehouses, workshops, cellars, archives, retail spaces and garages. The system is not suitable for outdoor use, as epoxy resins tend to yellow when exposed to UV light.
The EP system is virtually vapour-tight. The maximum permissible residual moisture content is 3%
by weight. Rising damp or excessive residual moisture can lead to blistering, loss of adhesion or cosmetic defects. It is therefore essential to carry out a CM measurement before work begins.
Yes. Betoncoat EP coating is filled with dry quartz sand (grain size 0.1–0.3 mm) in a ratio of 1 : 0.7 prior to application.
This improves mechanical strength, reduces stresses within the system and ensures a uniform, stable layer thickness. The minimum consumption is approx. 2.5 kg/m² (with aggregate).
Once components A and B have been thoroughly mixed and the quartz sand has been incorporated, the mixture is applied using a notched trowel, squeegee or finishing trowel.
The working time is approx. 30 minutes at 20 °C. Higher temperatures significantly reduce the pot life. Mixed material that has started to set must not be used any further.
Betoncoat EP is ideal when:
- high compressive strength and abrasion resistance are required,
- a cost-effective, robust solution is required,
- and the application is for indoor use.
For applications requiring crack bridging, greater elasticity or varying loads, however, the PUR system is usually the technically superior choice.
