Universal Primer 2K
Two components – full adhesion on difficult surfaces

Product information

Universal Primer 2K is a high-quality, solvent-based polyurethane bonding agent that is used wherever conventional primers reach their limits. Whether on smooth metals, dense substrates or old coatings – this 2K primer creates a durable bond between the substrate and Enke waterproofing systems.

It is used on intricate joints, transitions, complex geometries or surfaces subject to high stress. Universal Primer 2K offers maximum adhesion – fast, reliable and tested – particularly for refurbishment projects and critical existing substrates.

Reliable in use:
If nothing else sticks – this primer stays put

Universal Primer 2K is the specialist among adhesion promoters: wherever conventional primers reach their limits, this reactive two-component system ensures a lasting bond. Ideal for smooth, non-absorbent or heavily stressed surfaces, both indoors and outdoors.

Key benefits at a glance:

  • Two-component system with high reactivity
Optimal adhesion on difficult, dense or smooth substrates
  • Designed to meet the most demanding requirements
Suitable for existing coatings, metals, hard plastics and mineral surfaces
  • Excellent adhesion stability within the Enke system
Perfectly matched to Enkopur, Enkolan and Enkryl
  • Short drying time
Can be overcoated after approx. 60 minutes

  • High resistance to temperature changes and weather within the system; remains stable even with temperature fluctuations or moisture
  • Practical container size
Ideal for detailed joints and demanding renovation work

Frequently Asked Questions

Universal Primer 2K is a two-component, polyurethane-based bonding agent suitable for almost all substrates found on site. It is used in conjunction with the Enke liquid polymer systems Enkopur, Enkryl and Enkolan to ensure reliable adhesion to a wide variety of materials such as metals, concrete, cement screed, tiles, bituminous roofing membranes, elastomeric membranes and existing floor coverings.

Universal Primer 2K is the preferred choice when:

  • there are different or unknown substrates,
  • sensitive substrates such as films or membranes are present (minimal swelling),
  • rapid drying and prompt further processing are required,
  • or maximum adhesion is required on roofs and balconies.

It covers around 95 per cent of all typical construction site substrates and significantly simplifies the choice of system.

Components A and B are thoroughly mixed to a homogeneous consistency in a mixing ratio of 100 : 60. The ready-to-use mixture is applied to the prepared substrate by rolling or brushing.
Unlike many two-component products, the primer remains usable for several weeks after mixing, provided the container remains sealed airtight. The drying time is approximately 15–60 minutes (depending on temperature).

The consumption is approximately 100–200 g/m² (based on the ready-to-use mixture). The following factors are decisive:

  • the roughness and absorbency of the substrate
  • Application method (roller or brush)

The aim is to achieve an even, continuous film without any puddles forming.

Universal Primer 2K contains solvents and must not be used indoors. Ensure there is adequate ventilation, keep away from sources of ignition, and wear protective gloves, safety goggles and suitable work clothing.
When handling Component B, the isocyanate warnings must be observed (training is compulsory for commercial use). The information provided in the safety data sheets is binding.
