Roof renovation provides a permanent solution to damp
Frost damage, leaks and rising damp had taken a heavy toll on the roof of the University Hospital in Ljubljana. Conventional measures were no longer sufficient to permanently resolve the damage. The roof surface was successfully repaired using a tailored Enke system. The combination of Enkryl, Enkopur and Enke Polyflex fleece restored the structure to a permanently safe condition.

A design for safety through breathability
The situation was clear. Repeated cycles of frost and moisture ingress had damaged the roof structure. Working with the experts at Enke, a renovation solution was developed that could be applied directly to the existing clinker bricks and took into account the specific characteristics of the substrate.
Before the waterproofing work began, the surface was carefully prepared. Coarser areas of spalling were filled with filler. Areas with larger cracks were given double reinforcement with Enke Polyflex fleece to safely absorb the stresses and permanently stabilise the waterproofing.
Enkryl was then applied over the entire surface. The system is vapour-permeable and thus helps damp insulation layers to dry out without compromising the waterproofing performance. In particularly sensitive water-exchange zones, Enkopur was additionally used as a Topcoat. This resulted in a coordinated system design that enables long-lasting waterproofing, even on a challenging substrate such as clinker bricks.
