Wilanów Palace, Warsaw
Renovation using Enkolit, Metall Protect and Enkopur on a listed site

When historic buildings are restored, experience, knowledge of materials and a system that adapts to sensitive substrates are essential. This was precisely the case at Wilanów Palace in Warsaw. On the south wing, it was necessary to replace the covering sheets, seal the drainage channels and preserve the monument’s appearance. This was achieved using three coordinated Enke systems for bonding, surface protection and waterproofing.

Enkolit, Enke Metall Protect and Enkopur at Wilanów Palace

The Baroque Wilanów Palace is one of Poland’s most significant cultural monuments. The renovation of the southern wing was correspondingly challenging. The load-bearing capacity was limited, the substrate was delicate, and many connection details were already damaged. The aim was to find a technically sound solution without placing unnecessary strain on the historic fabric.

Sheet metal bonding with Enkolit

New titanium-zinc cladding sheets could not be mechanically fastened as is usually the case. Full-surface bonding with Enkolit was therefore chosen. The elastic cold-applied sheet metal adhesive ensures a secure, low-stress bond and is particularly suitable for critical substrates.

Surface protection with Enke Metall Protect

To ensure that the new metal surfaces blend in visually with the historic surroundings, they were given an opaque protective coat of Enke Metall Protect. The material adheres to new metal surfaces even without pre-treatment and was applied manually using a special technique to create a patina-like, long-lasting finish.

Flexible waterproofing with Enkopur

The internal drainage channels showed significant damage in places. Enkopur, a single component liquid plastic with high adaptability, was used for the waterproofing. In combination with Enke Polyflex fleece, this created a seamless, flexible waterproofing membrane that functions reliably even in difficult transitions.
