UV protection and refurbishment of foam roofs
PU foam-insulated roof surfaces are a tried-and-tested solution for retrofitting thermal insulation, particularly on older industrial buildings. However, for foam roofs to remain effective in the long term, they require reliable UV protection. Without this, the surface ages, becomes brittle and may crack. Enke offers two practical solutions for this: Reflektol as a protective coating for undamaged surfaces, and the renovation system comprising Enkryl, Enkopur and Enke Polyflex fleece, where the roof surface is already damaged or leaking.

Undamaged PU foam surfaces should be checked regularly and protected in good time. Enke Reflektol is ideal for this purpose. This light silver, fibre-reinforced roof coating containing aluminium pigments reflects solar radiation and reduces UV exposure to the surface. Once cleaned, Reflektol can be applied to a weathered existing coating, thereby extending the service life of the PU layer.
If the roof surface is already leaking or shows significant damage, a protective coat is no longer sufficient. In this case, the Enke system for full-surface waterproofing is used. It consists of Enkryl, Enkopur and the highly tear-resistant Enke Polyflex fleece. The single-component liquid plastics are applied cold and without the use of a flame. They are vapour-permeable and adapt well to undulating, uneven or even damp PU foam substrates. This creates an elastic, full-surface waterproofing layer with permanent watertightness, without the need to remove the existing PU layer and dispose of it at great expense.
