Arctic Seal and EMP at Europa-Park Rust
Onion dome with a patinated copper finish
A standard solution was not required for the Onion Tower at Europa-Park in Rust. The aim was to carry out a refurbishment that combined waterproofing with design, giving the roof a distinctive character. This was achieved using Enke Arctic Seal and Enke Multi Protect. The result is a permanently protected surface with a patinated copper finish that is both eye-catching and provides reliable protection against the elements.
Renovation of the Onion Tower using Enke Arctic Seal and Enke Multi Protect
Waterproofing and surface finish in a single system
The starting point was an onion-domed tower with a heavily worn, dilapidated surface. After removing the old layers, the surface was re-plastered and thus prepared for further work. Enke Arctic Seal was then applied across the entire surface. The material was applied directly to the new substrate using a brush, providing the necessary waterproofing across the whole area.
The next step involved applying Enke Multi Protect in the standard colour ‘Patina’. To achieve the distinctive look, a special wiping technique was used, incorporating acrylates. This produced a finish that closely resembles an aged copper roof. The result combines protection and design within a single system and demonstrates how a renovation project can be transformed into a compelling design solution.
