Enkefloor floor slabs with Enkopur
Balcony refurbishment: quick to install and ready for use straight away
When balconies or terraces are being refurbished, one thing matters above all else: a system that provides reliable waterproofing and can be put back into use quickly. Enkefloor floor slabs provide a robust wearing course for this purpose. Combined with Enkopur, the result is a durable solution that is technically sound and has a clean, neat appearance. A real-world example demonstrates how efficiently the system can be implemented, even in changeable weather conditions.
System assembly and installation in just a few hours
The starting point was an older balcony with leaks and a surface that was no longer usable. The existing structure consisted of a concrete slab, bituminous waterproofing, screed and a protective coating. The aim was to carry out a swift refurbishment before winter, with new waterproofing and a functional floor covering.
First, the waterproofing was applied using Enkopur. The surface was then covered with Enke polyester fleece. To speed up the installation, several Enkefloor floor panels were pre-assembled into larger units. These units could then be laid to fit precisely, with a gap of 5 to 10 mm from the building wall. To allow for expansion, an Expansion Strip was fitted approximately every eight panels.
Cut-to-size panels were used at penetrations and along the edges. The cuts were made using a jigsaw and a special saw blade with negative teeth to ensure clean cut edges. After just under three hours, the 54 m² area was fully covered and the balcony was immediately ready for use again.
