Enkopur and Enketop in Bielefeld and Zurich
Balcony coating ready for use again in no time
Two balconies, two cities, yet the same task: to provide durable waterproofing, enhance the appearance and ensure the areas are quickly ready for use again. The Enkopur Enketop system enables balconies to be renovated cost-effectively, even where there is limited installation height and challenging connections. The examples from Bielefeld and Zurich demonstrate just how flexibly liquid plastic can be used in such situations and why it is often the ideal solution for tricky details.

System architecture in practice
In Bielefeld, the balconies of a terraced housing development had suffered severe damage. A lack of waterproofing, low installation heights and suspended gutters meant that conventional systems were practically out of the question. In Zurich, leaks had already caused damage to the living spaces below. There, the homeowner wanted a refurbishment without any demolition work. In both cases, the Enkopur Enketop system was chosen.
The surfaces were cleaned, the joints were neatly masked off and Enke Primer 933 was applied. This was followed by full-surface waterproofing with Enkopur in combination with Enke Polyflex fleece. Door joints, guttering areas and penetrations were also securely integrated into the system. In Zurich, a polyester fabric was also used to reduce overlaps and further optimise the system’s structure.
Once dry, Enketop was applied, first to the edge areas and vertical structural elements, then across the entire surface. Coloured plastic chips were evenly scattered directly into the fresh Coating and colour-matched to the surrounding area. The process was completed with a transparent single-component sealing agent, which protects the surface and ensures the appearance remains stable over the long term.
In Bielefeld, the installation was supervised by Enke’s field service team. Practical advice on laying the non-woven underlay, de-airing with a spiked roller and ensuring an even distribution of chips supported the installation team and ensured a clean finish. Particularly important for the users: the balconies were fully usable again just three days after the project began.
